Om for your little yogi

I made a raku fired ceramic Om many years ago and printed the image as one of my yoga and meditation inspired cards when I first began my greeting card business. Then 2 years ago I began making Om Onesies and Tees for little yogis, including my own. My last batch I hand-dyed my onesies and tees brown. They look so cute, and have a very rustic and earthy look. My friend Niki just ordered my last 2 browns for 2 of her friends having baby showers, so now I need to make more!
PS I LOVE my new ribbon (as seen below). Its green satin with chocolate brown text that says "Wildflower Studio~Home Grown Goods". Its so fun for wrapping gifts!
Please feel free to contact me for any orders.
You can visit my website at www.shelldransart.com for more goodies!
Have a great week! Thanks for visiting!

A Future Surfer In The Making...

My son D got his first surfboard for his 5th birthday and has been having a blast "surfing"! He has been telling people he that he been surfing for years now, (playing on our boards, or his boogie board), so having his very own board is very exciting!

Make A Wish...

Tomorrow I turn 34! Why does that sound so much older than 33? I don't feel 34! (Well, actually, some days I feel it), but most of the time I feel a lot younger (not that 34 is old!) And I try to reflect how I feel in my artwork, colorful, playful, bright, happy (most of the time).
I drew this picture when hanging out with my 5 year old yesterday (during my 11 month old's nap), and then colored it with markers of all things! I wanted to create, but didn't feel like getting out paints, or waiting for layers to dry. I had so much fun in the short window of time, and I am so glad I didn't just put creativity time off because it was too much of a hassle.
My family is so blessed to live less than 5 minutes from a serene and tranquil lake, and I am always inspired by its beauty. My son D, who also loves the lake, has recently discovered the joy of wishing upon stars, and looking for shooting stars. (And gets so mad at us if we see one without him!) So he was my inspiration here.
Make A Wish...
What is my birthday wish?
I want to continue to live a full, rich, and meaningful life. How? To not allow myself to worry about what others think, and just live! I try not be afraid to try new things, be open to meet more wonderful and inspiring people, and go where my heart takes me. Right now in life, my heart is in my home with my little family, playing and creating. If you were to ask me where my heart was even just 8 years ago, I would have said the complete opposite: traveling the world! Amazing how times have changed for me.
And year after year I will continue to change and grow like a tree throughout the different seasons. Thanks for being on my path and taking the journey with me!
What is your wish? I'd love to hear it.
Be well...

Creative Growing Pains (are so painful!)

Oh, its so painful! All I can tell myself to feel better is that I must be changing and growing. Good must come from this, it has to. These must be creative growing pains I am experiencing. Nothing has been feeling right. All that I have in my life that I usually find aesthetically pleasing, is no longer pleasing me. I want to cut my long hair, its driving me crazy! I want to redecorate my house, and I want to create completely different art! Yesterday was the worst, I was questioning everything, all swirling inside my head. I felt so detached from my previous work, so inspired by so many other different artistic and creative people and their work, and could not bare the sight of my own.
When I woke up today I decided to lounge in my pajamas all day and play. And that's just what I did. I had the best time playing with my kids, I played with paints, and drawings, then surrendered them to my 5 year old to finish them for me (which he did)! Then as my boys and I played in the back yard in the brilliant green grass, I played with my camera and took playful pictures of sandy hands by the sandbox, tiny feet in the green grass, etc.
Later I played with some images on my computer that I had taken the other day. The rule was to follow no rules. I had the best time and fell in love with some of the images!

I am yearning to expand and grow, I just didn't know it would hurt along the way. I am trying to be gentle with myself in this clumsy process. I hope it leads some place good.

(I still plan on cutting my hair a good 4-5 inches and moving around some furniture!)

Sweet Serenade and the Art of "Be-ing"

I took these photos of my son D playing my guitar one lazy afternoon last July. We were relaxing with our then newborn baby, G, (now 11 mos). I love these photos and have been wanting to share them. I love the sweetness and tenderness he is displaying with the guitar. He is so calm and centered, and focused. (Very unusual for my then 4 year old rascal!)

That's one amazing thing about having a newborn around. It makes everything SLLOOOOOOOWWW DOWN, like it or not, and slowing down these days is something I rarely do. In these next weeks I want to be mindful of my pace, and put some time into just "be-ing", rather than "do-ing." I have put "be-ing" on the back burner for too long! I will begin with a nice deep breath right now. That felt so good! Now, if I can only remember to do that more often!
Wish me luck! :)

Upcoming Children's Book

My husband and I are working on a project together! He has written a really fun children's book, and I am doing the illustrations! He is so excited and is dying for me to get them all finished. The pressure is on! This is a lot more work than I ever imagined, especially since I already have so much on my plate right now. It's adorable to see my husband read his stories to our sons. Our 5 year old LOVES them! I guess they are child-approved! :)
I will keep you updated on the process, but I swore to confidentiality!
