Stretching myself: shooting a wedding and using a flash (the whole time!) and other adventures:

Click the photo or the link to take you to my photography blog to see Ben and Kate's wedding!
I wrote all about the details there, so mosey on over!
*****
I am meeting with my web designer today over the phone to discuss the website!
I can't wait to get that baby up and running!
Although, I assume its a long process...
I absolutely LOVE this blog, but if you haven't noticed, I am trying to steer you all on over to my other blog
so if and when the time comes and my website is finished, I may only have one blog,
the other one with the nice BIG photos.
Its funny, I love the other blog, but this one feels so much more cozy to me. I tend to get more personal on this one and save the other one mainly for professional photography.
I love doing that, so maybe I'll keep both.
Its a hard decision!
*****
I am not quite ready to blog about this yet, so I won't spill it all yet,
but I am trying to wrap my head around a trip my hubby planned (the first he's EVER planned for us)
and its without our kids.
I have traveled around the world to many different regions BEFORE kids and LOVED it.
Now this is a different story.
#1) Its for 2 weeks! (I know that sounds short, but it sounds unbearable to me as a mom!)
#2) It takes 5 planes and 1 boat to get there and back... (I won't get into how that can up my chances for death...I know I am being morbid, but I warned him I wasn't quite ready for this!)
#3) There are NO stores,no temples, no distractions. there is only our tropical wooden home and the jungle and the ocean.
#4) I will be 1 of maybe 10 people on this island, and THE ONLY FEMALE!
#5) Have you guessed this is a surf trip for my hubby and he told me it was a romantic getaway?
*
If I were to have read this before I had kids, I would have laughed at the lady writing this and thought
"Geese, what's her problem? I'll go in a heartbeat! What a drama queen!"
But now I have kids, and I am a different person.
I do want a vacation with my hubby,
ideally for about 4 days and in the same hemisphere as our children!
So I am breathing through this and trying to get excited.
(He is THRILLED and can't wait to go.)
*
I'll keep you updated!
Wish me luck!

What I wouldn't give for a trip like that!!!!! That's about the closest thing my idea of a dream getaway as is possibly possible!!!!! (When you go, don't forget your camera!!)

I like the pic of the shoes and clock.

I don't have kids but I can see how leaving them for 2 wks would seem like an eternity, especially if you haven't left them for that long before. BUT this trip seems too good to pass up, testosterone island or not! You gotta go!

The wedding photo's are gorgeous Shell! I love the intimacy of the occasion that you captured perfectly and yet also that it's still obviously a very out-of-the-ordinary beautiful and special day - great work!

And yes, I don't have children but I get your anxieties about the trip completely. SO sweet of your hubby but two weeks of worrying does not an appealing prospect make, no matter how idyllic and romantic the setting. I hope you find a way to come to terms and that you have a great time though! :)

Oh Shell I understand what you mean. But I'm doing it too, going out on my own every single year without hubby and without kids for about 12 days (yea I now my kids are in the loving arms of my husband when I leave). But it's so good for your sould and mind to be just Shell, just ones wife for a time being. And you know what turn things around your kids might love the time when they have special care of someone else. It's only two weeks of a life time....starting to slowly letting go....

But I understand your mom-feelings here. It's not easy at all!!
What ever you decide to do, it will be a good one.
Sweet hugs, and ohhhh do keep this cozy blog pleeeeease.
I'm gonna check out the other one right now.
Hugs Dagmar

I do feel for you! As a mom I understand. Hopefully you have a good support system back home.

Like how you staged the photo. Have you seen Jessica Claire's site? Dumb question. I'm sure you have.

About the trip, NO you are NOT being a drama queen. Are you kidding? Five planes and a boat? As well as leaving your kids for two entire weeks? Although it's nice that your husband is totally psyched about it all, he really needs to know how much he's asking of you. IMHO, of course. Maybe next time you get to pick the vaca!

No, Country Girl, I have never heard of Jessica Clair. I'll be sure to look her up! Thanks for the support on the vacay conflict I am having!
And thank you all for your loving feedback!
